Lemons are known for their many uses, but did you know they have health benefits as well?

For centuries, lemons have been known to humanity for having many health benefits. These benefits are antibacterial, antiviral, and immune-boosting capabilities. Lemons are known to be contributors as a weight loss aid, a digestive aid and liver cleanser.

This little yellow fruit contains citric acid, calcium, magnesium, vitamin C, bioflavonoid, pectin, and limonene that promote immunity and fight infection.

Since lemons contain citric acid, it can be useful in the treatment of acne as it has the ability to kill some types of bacteria. On the other side, vitamin C contributes to keeping the skin glowing and healthy.

According to research, the little yellow lemon has a calming effect and may be able to relieve fatigue, exhaustion, anxiety, dizziness, tension, and nervousness. It is the belief of some that inhaling lemon oil helps with alertness and concentration.

Just think of the number of cleaning products that are lemon scented and how many you actually use or purchase without realizing the effects of lemon on the mind and body.

With the antibacterial and antiviral properties, lemons can accelerate the healing process of canker sores.

An old remedy for flues and colds is a cup of warm tea with honey and lemon mixed with in it. It helps in soothing or calming the body when ill and aids in the reduction of fever if a person has one.

With a cold, lemons or lemon juice works externally and internally. Internally it supplies vitamin C to the defense cells. Externally, with the antiviral properties it attacks the virus through the mucous membranes in the throat and nose.

Other medical conditions such as corns, calluses, eczema, and fatigue, lemons have the ability to aid in the treatment or lessening of the symptoms.

It is amazing all the healing properties obtained from a little yellow fruit—a lemon!
